The first Amity Town Office was built in 2001. At a special Town Meeting it was voted to have the local students from the Southern Aroostook Vocational Education (SAVE) building trades class from Hodgdon High School built the office. It was finished with the help of our dependable volunteers. Previously the Town business was conducted at the Town Manager's home.
There was a small fire in early January of 2005, while Darrell Williams was Town Manager, which was caused by a kerosene wall heater. The office was still usable after some cleaning and airing. However, about a week later it burned again. This time taking the roof off. Fortunately, the Houlton Fire Department was able to save most of the town records. This fire was attributed to an electric heater placed to close to a pile of papers.
The picture that you see now is the new Amity Town Office, built in the spring of 2005.
Town Meeting is always the last Saturday in April at 9:00AM.
The Select Board usually meet on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:00PM at the Town Office. This is subject to change to fit work schedules.
